Prosthodontics & Implants
Dentures are removable prostheses that aim to replace all (complete denture) or a number of teeth (partial denture) in the dental arch, although they can also be used to replace one tooth, especially as part of an intermediate phase of fixed restorative work.
They can be made of acrylic or a combination of metal and acrylic and their design is dictated by the position, angulation and condition of your existing teeth and the architecture of the bearing areas (the gums and jaw bone).
Each denture is completely custom made and is a result of engineering, biomechanics and art.
Dental implants are screw-retained prostheses that can be used for replacing missing or failing teeth. A dental implant is a screw made of titanium, a highly biocompatible material, which is surgically placed into the jawbone and replaces the root of your tooth. After it has been fitted, the bone surrounding the implant will gradually osseointegrate (fuse) to it, thus resulting in holding the implant firmly in place. A false tooth (crown, bridge or removable denture) can then be fitted on top of the implant.
If you are interested in exploring the option of replacing any missing teeth with implants, you will first need a full medical, clinical and radiographic assessment by our dentists or our implantologist Dr Konstantinos Loukas.
For more complex cases we might advise you to see Dr Loukas at his dedicated implant office.
We recognise dental problems come without warning; as well as our regular treatments, and our 'new patient appointments', we also offer emergency appointments, which we aim to see you within 24 hours or same day where possible.
